About the LongView
Uncovering under-the-radar special situations for asymmetric returns
I’m Matas (Matthew in English), and I built LongView to give you the edge that large institutions—and even most retail investors—can’t access. Here’s how I’ll help you outperform:
Spot Early-Stage plays
I aim to identify micro-cap and special situation ideas before they hit the FinTwit radar.
Advanced quantitative screens + hands-on, line-by-line due diligence uncover hidden opportunities.
Unlock True Inefficiencies
Most write-ups focus on big-cap names — I target companies under $500 million in market cap.
These are places where an informed retail or small institutional investor can still have an edge and capture a 20%+ IRR.
Catalyst-First Research
Cheap stocks without catalysts destroy returns. In my current/future write-ups, I only recommend names with imminent, high-conviction catalysts (M&A, product launches, turnaround playbooks, insider buying, misunderstood finances, etc.).
Every idea is built around a clear, executable thesis—no “hope” investing here.
My background is quite simple:
Began trading at age 12, using options to turbo-charge a tiny account and master risk/return.
Found a mentor from Greece, and by the time I was 17, I had learnt the ins and outs of quality investing;
Legally emancipated at 17 so I could run our school’s endowment—managing real money under real fiduciary responsibility.
Two years at the helm taught me that size matters: the smaller the market cap, the bigger the mispricing opportunities, when you know where to look.
Stepped down as CEO after 2 years, and now will be focusing on Substack full-time. No corporate backers. No hidden agendas.
Join the LongView!
Subscribers get:
Exclusive, concise write-ups on 2-4 actionable new ideas each quarter (no case studies or educational courses besides the occasional book recommendation).
Real-time alerts in chat when I start researching a position or buy/sell.
Quarterly reports with watchlist, portfolio commentary and results (no macro commentary — many substacks do that, and I am no expert in politics or foreseeing the future)
See you inside,
Matas
